Recorded Music NZ’s inaugural Aotearoa Charts Icons Six60 entered the Top 40 Albums Chart at #1 on Friday, with their new album Right Here Right Now – giving the group its fifth #1 Top 40 album.
Recorded Music NZ’s inaugural Aotearoa Charts Icons Six60 entered the Top 40 Albums Chart at #1 on Friday, with their new album Right Here Right Now – giving the group its fifth #1 Top 40 album.
The enormously popular local act is the first from Aotearoa to reach #1 on the Top 40 so far this year, and comes weeks after Recorded Music celebrated the #1 success of three Aotearoa artists throughout 2025, Devilskin, Lorde and Marlon Williams.
Six60 are now tied with Hayley Westenra as the only Aotearoa acts to have reached #1 in the Top 40 with five albums, just behind Shihad, who did so with six.
The achievement sees Six60 break the 15-week streak at #1 of UK star Olivia Dean who has been enjoying astounding global success with her album The Art of Loving.
Six60's career tally at #1 on the Albums Top 40 is now at 42 weeks. Of those, a remarkable 35 were with just one album Six60 (3), the longest #1 run by any local artist and second only to Ed Sheeran's Divide on the all-time list.
Recorded Music NZ CEO Jo Oliver says:
“Six60 reinforce their icon status in Aotearoa with this, their fifth Top 40 #1. It is rare for local acts to top the Chart, but Six60 are familiar with both the destination of success and the climb to get there. It's a great start to 2026 for Aotearoa music."
