Dame Hinewehi Mohi has been announced as Recorded Music NZ’s 2024 Te Whare Taonga Puoro o Aotearoa | NZ Music Hall of Fame inductee.
2024 is a significant year for the artist, advocate, and broadcaster. As well as being inducted into the Hall of Fame, it marks:
- 25 years since the release of her Jaz Coleman produced debut album Oceania
- 25 years since she stirred up controversy by performing the national anthem in te reo Māori at a Rugby World Cup match at Twickenham
- 20 years since she co-founded the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre
- 5 years since she initiated the Waiata Anthems project
Dame Hinewehi Mohi will be celebrated at the Aotearoa Music Awards on Thursday 30 May.
